JOB SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Independent Claims Adjusters investigate, negotiate, evaluate and settle multi-line claims while providing fair, timely, reliable and professional claims service to policyholders.

TYPICAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 
 – Thoroughly examine claim information and utilize client procedures to extend fair and due claim settlements and close claim files.
 
 – Closely collaborate with several teams to efficiently manage large volumes of claims and incoming calls.
 
 – Accurately review, interpret and apply, policy language, state specific statute and client standard operating procedures.
 
– Navigate client claims systems and other vendor applications to accomplish all assigned job duties.
 
 – Obtain and verify vehicle information, such as, related damage, pre-existing damage, mileage, wear and tear and actual cash value by utilizing repair estimates, photographs and state regulated valuation methods.
 
 – Confidently negotiate with policy holders, claimants, attorneys and the general public.
 
– Record statements from both 1st and 3rd parties when client specific criteria is met.
 
– Extend fair and due settlement offers to 1st and 3rd parties and issue payment when warranted.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Properly licensed to adjust claims in multiple states,

Auto claims experience in the independent adjusting industry,

Experience using various claims processing and estimating systems,

Participation in technical insurance coursework, such as AIC, CPCU, I-CAR,

Knowledge of insurance theory and practices and insurance contracts,

Additional opportunities and pay may be available for individuals who have obtained a bilingual-certification (Spanish/English).

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Desk Claims Adjuster Requirements:

Ability to travel, as necessary and work in challenging fast paced multi-tasking environments with extended and varying work schedules,

Regular attendance required, usually including at least 60 to 70 hours per week and nights, weekends and holidays,

Sit in a chair, operate telephone, computer, mouse, keyboard and other similar equipment for extended periods of time.

Field Claims Adjuster Requirements:

Auto Adjusters:

 – Ability to travel, as necessary and work in challenging fast paced environments with frequent face-to-face interactions,

 – Inspect auto claims at designated locations or, travel by auto to non-drivable automobiles and other vehicles to complete detailed appraisals, including from underneath automobiles and on top of taller vehicles such as semi-trucks and motor homes,

 – Perform physical activities such as; sitting, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, stooping, crawling, lying flat and lifting objects typically weighing less than 50 pounds,

 – Regular attendance required, usually including at least 60 to 70 hours per week and nights, weekends and holidays.
